Senttri vs. Gmail's tabs

Last updated July 16, 2026

Gmail's tabs are free but only ever sort a single Gmail account into five fixed categories you can't customize. Senttri unifies Gmail, Outlook, Yahoo, iCloud, and Microsoft 365 into one inbox with AI-defined categories. Gmail's Gmailify bridge — the one feature that partly extended tabs-like sorting to other providers — is being discontinued entirely by January 2027.

Gmail's tabs (Primary, Social, Promotions, Updates, Forums) are free, and for a single Gmail account, they do a reasonable job of separating obvious bulk mail from everything else. Two real limits worth knowing: you can't define your own categories — only turn Google's five fixed ones on or off — and the sorting only ever applies to that one Gmail account.

That second point is the whole comparison, honestly. Gmail did have a bridge feature (Gmailify) that could apply some Gmail behavior to a linked Yahoo, Outlook.com, or AOL account — Google is discontinuing it entirely by January 2027. Once that happens, there will be no way to get Gmail-style sorting applied to a non-Gmail account at all. If you only ever use Gmail, its tabs are free and fine. If you also have a work Microsoft 365 account, an old Yahoo address, or an iCloud inbox, Gmail's tabs simply don't reach them — which is the exact gap Senttri exists to close.
